GORE-TEX Golf Jackets : Sunice Volt

Product Reviews on Demand

sunice-hurricane-jacket-review.jpgGORE-TEX Golf Jackets like the Sunice Volt are touted by their manufacturer as the best-of-the-best in golf outerwear, and are said to offer style and comfort with no compromise to your game. If that sounds like a tall order, your right, in-fact we often find ourselves wondering if GORE-TEX Golf Jackets are really all they're cracked up to be... Needless to say, our pals at Sunice stepped up to the plate, and we were able to fully test and review the Sunice Volt over the past week in an attempt to find the answer to our burning question!

sunice-volt-jackets.jpgsunice-sizing-chart.jpgAvailable in three distinct color combos, the Sunice Volt variation we got our hands on for testing early last week is the white, gray, and red version (pictured at the top of this review). I know, I know... Don't wear white after labor day! Does anyone really follow that lame rule anyways?

Did you know: Sunice produced the outerwear for the American 2011 Solheim Cup team... Well, if you don't know, now you know!

sunice-gore-tex.jpgAs predicted, Sunice holds true to it's commitment of being an industry leader as an authentic Gore-Tex supplier. In-fact the Volt jacket is now even lighter and quieter than earlier models. After spending just a few minutes with the jacket initially it was easy for us to see that on a technical level it doesn't get much cooler than the Volt. It's loaded with useful golf and weather proofing features.

Sunice Volt Key Features:

  • Zip off sleeves at elbow.
  • Ultra Lightweight construction.
  • Welded storm flap with 2-way zipper.
  • Lycra action cuffs.
  • Adjustable velcro cuff tabs.
  • Waterproof YKK zippers.
  • Lifetime waterproof guarantee.
Our Review:
sunice-volt-jacket-review.jpgComfort: (8 out of 10) Sizing is everything, that being said the XL I received for testing was an absolute perfect fit. The lightweight construction of the Volt is also a very nice bonus when swinging a golf club. On the down-side the pockets bugged me a little... They're set back and constructed to keep rain and water out, which is great, and you gotta love that, but in-turn it does make them a little harder to get in and out of than I would have liked. If you're a fan of wearing a wrist while golfing the inner Lycra action cuffs are super comfortable, but may cause you a some slight trouble getting your arm in and out of the sleeve.

Styling: (9 out of 10) This jacket (especially the white version) is an eye catcher. Several times that I've worn the jacket out I have received complements. It's one thing to look good, but this jacket is also quite functional as well.

Features: (9 out of 10) From appearances this is a relatively minimalism jacket. Looks can be deceiving, trust us. There's almost too much to talk about here, but our favorite features include the zip-off sleeves (below the elbows) and the In pocket golf ball cleaner, which is attached to a little bungee and can be disconnected if you're so inclined.

Weather Proofing: (10 out of 10) This category is all about all about the GORE-TEX and it's unique combination of durably, weather protection, and breathable comfort. At the end of the day the Volt is guaranteed to keep you dry no matter the weather. We tested this guarantee in the blustery rain of Michigan, and though it was cold and wet, we stayed warm and dry. At least from our necks to our waists. Not may products live up to their guarantees, the Volt and it's GORE-TEX base absolutely did.

Value: (9 out of 10) This is sometimes a tricky category for us, but not this time. The Sunice Volt comes at a somewhat hefty price tag, but the quality and attention to detail that is offered is well worth every penny of the suggested retail price!

The Bottom Line: Weather you're a pro or amateur golfer, or maybe somewhere in between the Sunice Volt jacket is a top quality jacket that won't comprise your golf game in the slightest. We highly recommend the Volt to anyone who is looking to upgrade to a lightweight versatile jacket designed with the golfer in mind and the guarantee to keep you dry! Oh, and did we mention... All Sunice apparel is backed by a lifetime guarantee, which we doubt you'll have to use, but is nice insurance to have.
