Peace Bicycles is a new "do good, give back" brand of fully-equipped vintage comfort commuter bikes that originates in a need to address the many concerns of commuters by including front/rear lights, bell, and light-strips on tires for safety, an upright seating position for good posture and comfort, and skirt/coat guards and fenders for commuting to work in nice clothes. Influenced by his travels to Amsterdam, France, Belgium and many other biking mecca-zones, founder Ilya Pikus strives to create utilitarian, yet biking-chic dutch bikes where value is number one. The first line of bikes from Peace will be the Dreamer Step-thru and the Dreamer Straight-bar. Comparable to much more expensive brands like these bikes will have a much more affordable price point so that bike purchase is not so much of a large commitment decision, but more of a no brainer. You can pre-order one of these Peace Bikes bikes on kickstarter which ends Apr 14 2014 3:09 PM PDT for a price of $699. They are also having specials like their "Dreamers Special" for a price of $649.
"do good, give back"
Part of every sale will be donated towards buying a bike for someone in need. This will be done through participating bike co-ops across the country and around the world. Ilya told us "When I was young the bike was my first sense of freedom and possibility. We hope to give this "fresh start" to those who need it the most. To those who don't know that there's an outside world other than their 5 blocks in every direction, to those who need to get to interviews but are without transportation or too poor to take the bus etc. The bike for us is a symbol of hope and freedom and possibility."
