New Ski Bindings - G3 Alpine-Touring Binding

new-ski-bindings-g3-alpine-touring-binding.jpg

Here's some new ski bindings from G3 called the Alpine-Touring Bindings. These new ski bindings allow the skier to release your heel, so you can put skins on your skis and tour. And when you're going downhill, you can lock the heel down and make alpine-style turns. Though some alpine touring bindings work with both traditional alpine and alpine-touring boots, bindings like the Onyx only work with certain models of alpine touring boots because this binding will only work with a boot that has special inserts that allow the binding's toe piece to fit inside. The following brands all have boots that are compatible with the G3 Alpine-Touring Binding : Dynafit, Black Diamond, Scarpa, and Garmont. The binding will retail for $400 without brakes and $470 with. As for availability, G3 had this to say: "A very small number will be available later this winter to consumers, but Fall 2009 is when the big availability will be." --Sam Moulton
