The Magnestick Skiing Chairlift Accident Prevention System was created to keep kids from falling off ski lifts. The Magnestick system works like this: There's a permanant magnet fixed to the seat that's activated for the whole ride up including when the child gets on. The skier or snowboarder then wears a light (200g) back protector with a metallic plate on it. At the bottom of the lift, the rider sits down so that their metallic plate sits on the magnet fixed to the seat. At the top of the lift, the magnet is automatically deactivated when the child gets off. The risk of a child falling off before getting to the top is prevented by the magnetism. Another pro of wearing a Magnestick Vest is that it acts like a back protector if they fall or collide with someone else and the vest comes in a bright color so that children can be seen on the slopes and to avoid collisions with other slope users. You can find this technology at many ski resorts mostly around Europe.
