Intelligent Footballs Will Make Refereeing Easier
Being a referee has never been an easy job, especially when your a soccer referee judging to goal-line decisions. If people don't agree things can get really nasty and even deadly real quick! These Intelligent footballs, having been successfully tested in a match in Japan, could soon be adopted in Premiership and make refereeing easier. These Soccer Balls or Footballs (rest of the world) are fitted with special chips that could soon pave the way for a trouble-free match. They work like this: wires are embedded in the pitch near the goalmouth. The magnetic field emitted by these wires can detect the presence of a football with a built-in special sensor. Presence of a sensor means that the ball can be traced anywhere around the pitch. When the ball does cross the line, a signal is sent to referees’ watch to let him know. Sweet! Sports technology at its best!
