Future police cars like this slick Ford Police Intercepter "PI" will soon replace those crummy old Ford Crown Victoria-based Police Interceptors, Chevy Caprice's etc. Ford has debuted its new Police Interceptor based on its popular Taurus model and insists that the cop and civilian models may be aesthetically similar but share nothing else as far as whats under the hood and features. The new cop car will have significantly upgraded brakes, better cooling and a beefier alternator, stab-proof seats to protect the driver and partner, plus rear doors that extend an extra 10 degrees to accommodate loading handcuffed suspects. The new "PI" will be will also be a lot better for the environment and will come in either a 3.5-liter V-6 (263 hp) or a 3.5-liter Ecoboost twin-turbo V-6 (365 hp). The roads will look a lot cooler and more intimidating when these come out!
