Former three-time world surfing champion Andy Irons was found dead in a hotel room in Texas just days after telling tournament organizers in Puerto Rico he had become ill during an event in Portugal. The 32-year-old had reportedly contracted an illness in Portugal during a visit there in late October, falling ill with what is being reported as dengue fever by the time he reached Puerto Rico this past week. From everyone here at Besportier we wish his family and friends our condolences. What a great loss to the world and surfing.
