4d-snow-bikes-1.JPG

There's only so many options of cool ways to get have a good time/get hurt this winter and like the Brenter Snowbike C4 which we covered before, the 4D Snow Bike is one of them. Darin Schultz, who is currently living in an RV between Keystone Resort and Loveland Pass, Colorado, has come up with the 4D Snow Bike concept. The 4D Snow Bike kit can be installed on any mountain bike frame, and and is basically like riding your bike, but with a pair of skis with slots cut into them for your tires. The 4D prototypes use paddle tires for traction). Something we are definitely going to try this winter! Preliminary test models were sold on eBay for $469 before Christmas to give you an idea. Monomed Single Blade Kicksled

monomed-single-blade-kicksled.jpg

The Monomed Single Blade Kicksled is another cool winter sled device that we came across. The first confirmed sighting of the Monomed Single Blade Kicksled was in Sweden around 1870. To operate, you stand on the one metal runner, and to move along, you kick like a skateboard with one foot alongside the runner. It takes some practice to be able to operate this, but once you have learned it you will travel fast over hard packed surfaces. Looks like fun! You can buy this kicksled for a price of $457.

Brenter Snowbike C4

brentor-ski-bike-snow-bike-1.jpg

brentor-ski-bike-snow-bike-2.jpg

Snowboarding...yeah...skiing...ok...how about snowbiking! The Brenter Snowbike C4 is basically a full-suspension mountain bike, but instead of wheels, there are skis. Instead of pedals there are footpegs. The rider sits on an extra long seat and steers the bike with the handlebar. Riders on a skibike have multiple points of contact -- both the bike's skis and the handlebar. This offers the beginning rider a lot of confidence and makes maneuvering the very similar to skiing: Steer back up the hill to slow down, dig in an edge to stop. Plus, the handlebars add to steering control. The Brenter Snowbike C4, one of 6 Brenter models, has a price of $1,400. If you want to learn more about snowbiking check out Brentor Snowbike Site.
